Welcoming every guest we can
We try wherever possible to welcome all guests. The buildings at Toft Estate are very old and listed, so we are unable to offer fully wheelchair-accessible accommodation.
However, Toft Barn, Chels Barn and Toft Nook all have ground-floor bedrooms and bathrooms, which suit guests with limited mobility, older relatives and families with young children. Every house has parking outside, and the gardens and fields can be reached without steps.

House-by-house access guide
Ground-floor twin
One ground-floor twin bedroom with an accessible wet-room en-suite. No-step access to the outside, the living room and the entrance lobby, with one step up to the open-plan kitchen and dining room.
3 ground-floor bedrooms
Three bedrooms and two wet rooms on the ground floor. Built on a gentle slope, it has four steps from the kitchen to the dining room and four more to the living room. One bedroom and en-suite has a step down from the dining room.
All on one level
Every room is at ground-floor level: a living room with kitchenette, a double bedroom and a shower room (there is a step up into the shower itself).
Ground-floor WC
Built in the late 1500s, Toft Hall has no ground-floor bedrooms, but there is a ground-floor WC.
Step-free outside
Every house has car parking outside, and the private gardens and fields can be reached without steps.
Deafguard on Request
Hard of hearing
We can provide a Deafguard, a pad that goes under your pillow and vibrates if the fire alarm sounds. Please let us know in advance.

Accessible days out
There are many accessible trails in the Peak District National Park. The National Park’s Miles Without Stiles guide lists routes that are easy to use with wheelchairs and buggies, and all-terrain mobility bikes can be hired at some locations for something more adventurous.

Is Toft Estate wheelchair accessible?
No. The buildings are very old and listed, so we cannot offer fully wheelchair-accessible accommodation. Toft Barn, Chels Barn and Toft Nook do have ground-floor bedrooms and bathrooms.
Which houses have ground-floor bedrooms?
Toft Barn has a ground-floor twin with a wet-room en-suite, Chels Barn has three ground-floor bedrooms and two wet rooms, and Toft Nook is all on one level. Toft Hall has no ground-floor bedrooms.
Are there steps inside the barns?
Toft Barn has one step up to the kitchen and dining room. Chels Barn has four steps between the kitchen and dining room and four between the dining room and living room.
Is there parking close to the houses?
Yes, every house has car parking outside, and the gardens and fields are reachable without steps.
Can you help guests who are hard of hearing?
